ピレネー山麓のバニェール＝ド＝ビゴールで農家の息子として育ち、自転車を始めたのは15歳——それまでの6年間はラグビーに打ち込んでいた。2018年に24歳でプロ入りした遅咲きのルーラーは、2023年のジロ・デ・イタリア第14ステージで逃げに乗り、ゴール後にテレビを見て初めてマリア・ローザを着ていることに気づいたという。フランス個人TT王者を2022年・2024年・2025年と三度獲得しながらも、エースを支えることを誇りとする静かな職人だ。
