この選手を知る — 初めてのツールは、最下位の1つ上だった

2007年、出場選手の中で最年少としてツール・ド・フランスに初めて出て、完走者の最後から2番目でパリに着いた。トラック競技のチームパシュートでは、2008年と2012年の五輪で金メダルを獲った。2013年のツールは骨盤を骨折したまま最後まで走り、同じチームのクリス・フルームの総合優勝を支えた。2018年、ウェールズ人で初めてツールを総合優勝した。最後のレースは2025年9月、ツアー・オブ・ブリテンの最終ステージだった。自分の名を冠した自転車競技場を出発し、生まれ育ったウェールズのカーディフでゴールした。最後の1kmは、12歳のころから一緒にレースに出てきた親友のベン・スウィフトと並んだ。
